Sephora VIB Haul

b1-1

Remember those good ol’ jolly days leading up to the holidays? Prepping Thanksgiving invites for loved ones near and far. Feeling warm and festive around the toasty fireplace, watching the flames flicker while listening to Frank Sinatra sing about white Christmas (which unsurprisingly is on repeat in my humble abode).

And then there are shopping sessions that bring many good cheer (how can you not when your favorite perfumes are bottled up ideal stocking stuffers?) So when the Sephora 20% off VIB event occurred last week, I was one of the many beauty enthusiasts to gleefully jump on that sales bandwagon. And the verdict? A happy camper with a bag full of skincare and makeup goodies to smooth sail through Winter!

b1-12

Without further adieu, here are the items I purchased and my two cent’s worth on them!b1-3

1.) First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser ($20): My go-to cleanser for Winter, I love how this lathers up to a creamy texture and removes makeup residue, dirt, grimes and oil without being abrasive.

– Pros: Antioxidant boosters like white tea, licorice root, and feverfew to combat free radicals. No parabens and sulfates. Suitable for all skin types.

– Cons: It has a pungent medicinal scent but not strong enough to be off-putting.

2.) Origins Modern Friction Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion ($39.50 for 4.2 oz): Serving as my wake-up call with perk-up aromas like bergamot and peppermint, it’s as pleasant to the senses as it dutifully removes dead skin cells.

b-3

– Pros: My skin looks more polished, most likely due to the lemon oil that illuminates and the aloe that prevents irritation and redness. No parabens and sulfates. Suitable for all skin types

– Cons: None I can think of!

3.) Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream ($30): A first buy, I was drawn to its holy mantra –“instantly reduces dark circles. Unsightly bags and puffiness virtually disappear”. Plus when I tested it at Sephora the gel-like texture soaked in well without leaving a hefty residue.B1-5

– Pros: Natural ingredients like Panax ginseng, magnolia extract, and caffeine. Soothing texture with cooling effect. No parabens and sulfates. Suitable for all skin types.

– Cons: Results take time; my under eye bags have diminished ever so slightly but those dark circles haven’t budged a bit (note to self: no more burning the midnight oil).b-4

4.) Perricone MD Photo Plasma Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($69): With a dewy pink soufflé texture, this holy grail moisturizer not only hydrates and nourishes but protects against sun damage.B1-7

– Pros: Oil-free moisturizer with a highly absorbent formula that doesn’t leave a white cast on your face. Titanium Dioxide and Vitamin C Ester deliver the dual purpose of warding off UVA and UVB rays while brightening the skin. No parabens and sulfates. Suitable for all skin types.

– Cons: Again, can’t think of any!

5.) Marc Jacobs Beauty Plush Shadow ($59): The coveted triad of “shimmery metallics, buttery mattes, and lustrous sheens”, the 7 colors in this palette leave a creamy luxe finish while blend seamlessly with one another into vibrant new shades!b-7

– Pros: Sleek and skinny palette ideal for travel; high pigmentation and staying power; non-tacky shimmery and matte colors.

– Cons: If only there was a beige or light gold shade between the white and brown to act as a foundational base on the lid area.b-8b1-14

How about you? Have you tried any of these products before, or perhaps picked one up during your recent shopping haul? 🙂

      • Hey! It was a great experience. I met some really experienced people invested in beauty and skincare! It depends on your skin type.

If you have dry skin- their Ultra Repair line (especially the ultra thick Ultra Repair Cream will work wonders for your skin. It has a delightful whipped texture that is not thick or sticky.) If you have oily skin, I recommend the red clay line (it’s in red packaging)- the scrub and wash are both great! Also the Eye Duty is great as a prep for baggy under eyes. For some people, they experience a slight stinging but, I’ve never found it bothersome.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I may do a review on the whole line on my blog! 🙂

      • Wow that’s awesome Christie, deeply appreciate your suggestions! I would have to give the Ultra Repair Cream a go as I do see some dry patches on my face. The Eye Duty sounds ideal, I will have to look into it after my Origins one runs out! Thanks again!

    • I know what you mean Janet! I had quite a few palettes before and then I realized my go-to ones were only a few 🙂 This is an amazing palette, I would recommend this as it can easily transition a look from day to night! 🙂

    • Yes I know what you mean Mojisola! I was wondering if it would be worth the investment and when the makeup artist tried the purple and navy on me I was immediately sold! The colors are very rich and pigmented, and great staying power! Have a great one dear!

    • Hi Vivian, happy wednesday to you too dear! I’m sorry that you guys don’t have Sephora anymore, what beauty stores are in your neck of the woods? And yes that eye cream is quite soothing for those early AMs! 🙂

  1. I’ve been thinking about the eye cream. I have dark circles, but they are hereditary so there’s not much I can do to get rid of them, buts it is alway tempting to try creams like that. I heard the origins one is especially good.

    • Hi Andrea, yes this is a great eye cream for its soothing sensation while slowly removing bags. However, I only see very minimal decrease in dark circles and I”m wondering if it’s because of hereditary reasons too. I heard the Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm is really good, have you tried that before? 🙂

  2. As you can easily imagine I looooove this post! Loved all your picks especially that amazing Marc Jacobs Palette! The closest MJ counter known to me is the one in Paris, on Champs Elisées. 😳
I had the Origins Ginzing eye cream back in the days and I loved it! Never tried anything First Aid Beauty but I’m lusting after that oatmeal mask!
Great post anyway! Lots of xx

    • Hi Annie, thanks for stopping by, gosh I don’t mind being near the one on Champs Elisées! 😉 The cleanser is my first venture into FAB, and from Christie’s comment above it seems like the Ultra Repair Cream, Red Clay Mask and Eye Duty eye cream are amazing too! Have you tried any before? And this oatmeal mask sounds fantastic, guess I’ll be going to Sephora again this weekend to check that out! Have a great wednesday love!

      • Believe me, love, I’m nowhere near the Champs Elisées either! In fact, I’m 2300 km away from it! 😭😪😓
Never tried anything from FAB but I’ve only heard good things about it. My friend in England who sent me the Hourglass Blush Palette can’t stop raving about their products. According to her they deliver amazing results for the little amount of money you pay for them…😉 Which is more than fine with me! Haha! 😁

      • Oh I see! I would love to visit Paris one of these days and I’ve just made a mental note to visit the Sephora there as each one I’ve been to in another country has its own unique flair! Thanks for suggesting the Hourglass Blush Palette, I can’t wait to check it out! Have a great day dear!! 🙂

  3. I have a few sample size of First Aid Beauty cleanser and never used it (didn’t look appealing) until a few weeks ago I was traveling and I wanted to travel light. This cleanser is AMAZING! All of makeup came off within 1-2 minutes, doesn’t irritate my eyes and my face looks so clear and glows. I put my Estee Lauder cleanser away and I use the First Aid one everyday!

  4. Hi Lena, great haul from Sephora! I love it when they have the 20% off for members. It’s always a great time to stock up on favorites and try new things. I’ve tried a few of these. I really like Origins products, and the last one I bought was the same eye cream. I’ve tried the dermabrasion cleanser too, but didn’t care for it much. I need a whole to more exfoliation that it delivered. But, you have youthful glowing skin and don’t need much. You always look radiant. 😉 I hope you have a lovely day! And, thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such wonderful comments. I always look forward to them! Sending you lots of hugs and well wishes! Xo, Maria

    • Hi Maria, so happy to see you stop by! Yes it’s a real treat isn’t it when the sale goes on! I always find myself buying the same ones like the FAB cleanser and the Perricone sun screen, so for me to purchase the eye cream was a first, and far it’s been going well! Thanks for your lovely comment dear, it’s always great to hear from you and your input on my post. Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday (and your week too) dear!

  6. Lena, you’re making me jealous! Sephora was my second home back in Malaysia but now living in a small town, I can only get Sephora online or at Victoria. Great haul here and hope to see a further review on Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palette. The shades are stunning but I wonder about the application and pigmentation. xx

  7. I’ve been looking for a good eye cream, this one sounds lovely. 🙂 I wish points from Ulta didn’t expire and the gifts you can get from your points for Sephora were a wee bit larger. I wish I read this a few days ago! Once I go in there I get sold on too many things and try not to go back for a few months or unless I ABSOLUTELY have to. Hehe, great review!

    • Hi Jodi glad you enjoyed this review! Yes I recommend this eye cream given the cooling effect and how my bags have diminished over time (slowly but effectively). You’re right about the gifts, they are usually very small, but I’ve noticed that every once in a while they come out with a gift set that’s worth the wait, like this Urban Decay palette I redeemed with 500 points. Hope that helps girl!! xo~
